Objectives
Course Description: The Premise Wiring Systems Technician training expands your Installer training and demonstrates a higher knowledge level of copper and fiber optic theory, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the Telecommunications Industry today. This training incorporates hands-on labs including multi-vendor copper and fiber terminations, and expanded fiber optic splicing and testing labs. Learn skills which are applicable to all the functions required to safely and competently install copper and fiber communications cabling in the premise environment.

Understand the EIA/TIA standards for category 5e, 6, 7and beyond. |

Understand the EIA/TIA standards for fiber optic cabling.

Know the performance specifications for the high performance Twisted Pair Media.

| • | Understand Premise Wiring Test Equipment. |
| • | Understand distance limitations, attenuation, near-end crosstalk, wire mapping and how to test these measurable electrical properties of copper and fiber media. |

Understand the logical and physical organization of premise systems, the products and test equipment needed to install and maintain them; |
| • |
Demonstrate basic skills needed to assemble, wire, and test various cabling systems including new advanced cabling systems by participating in hands-on lab exercises including fusion splicing and OTDR testing |
Audience Profile
The Premise Wiring Systems Technician training expands your Installer training and demonstrates a higher knowledge level of copper and fiber optic theory, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the Telecommunications Industry today. In addition this training incorporates hands-on labs including multi-vendor copper and fiber terminations, installation practices, grounding and bonding overviews and Copper and Fiber testing. Learn skills which are applicable to all the functions required to safely and competently install copper and fiber communications cabling in the premise environment
The following knowledge or experience level is desirable but not required:

| • | Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable types |
| • | Basic Knowledge of cabling pulling |
| • | Basic knowledge of cable installation |
| | • | Basic knowledge of cable testing |
| • | Basic knowledge of fiber connector types |
Requirements
Written exam required for Certified Professional – Premise Wiring Training Level 3 (FOCP-PWT3) Certification
Toward Certification
When you complete the Premise Wiring Systems Technician (PWT-PWST) course you receive a FiberOptic.com Certificate as a Premise Wiring Systems Technician (PWST).
