Objectives

Course Description:: The Premise Wiring Systems Installer training is designed for those who design, install or maintain copper and fiber optic Systems. It identifies you as an installer who demonstrates a practical knowledge of copper and fiber optic theory, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the Telecommunications Industry today.  In addition this training incorporates hands-on training of copper and fiber termination, cable preparation, installation practices and certification testing procedures. Learn and perform skills which are applicable to all the functions required to safely and competently install copper and fiber communications cabling. All procedures and practices are instructed based on the latest EIA/TIA standards.

Understand the EIA/TIA standards for category 5e, 6, 7 and beyond.
Understand the EIA/TIA standards for fiber optic cabling.
Know the performance specifications for the high performance Twisted Pair Media.
Understand Premise Wiring Test Equipment
Understand distance limitations, attenuation, near-end crosstalk, wire mapping and how to test these measurable electrical properties of copper and fiber media.
Understand the logical and physical organization of premise systems, the products and test equipment needed to install and maintain them;
Demenstrate basic skills needed to assemble, wire, and test various cabling systems including new advanced cabling systems by participating in hands-on lab exercises


Audience Profile

The Premise wiring Systems Installer training is designed for those who design, install or maintain copper and fiber optic Systems. It identifies you as an installer who demonstrates a practical knowledge of copper and fiber optic theory, codes, standards and practices widely accepted in the Telecommunications Industry today.  In addition this training incorporates hands-on training including copper and fiber terminations, cable preparations, installation practices and certification testing procedures. Learn skills which are applicable to all the functions required to safely and competently install copper and fiber communications cabling.

The following knowledge or experience level is desirable but not required:
1 year electrical or telecommunications voice\data experience
Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable types
Basic Knowledge of cabling pulling
Basic knowledge of cable installation
Basic knowledge of cable testing
Basic knowledge fiber connector types



Requirements
Written exam required for Certified Professional – Premise Wiring Training Level 2 (FOCP-PWT2)- Certified Premise Wiring Systems Installer Cerfication


Toward Certification

When you complete the Premise Wiring Systems Installer (PWT-PWSI)  course you receive a FiberOptic.com Certificate as a Premise Wiring Systems Installer (PWSI).

When you complete the Premise Wiring Systems Installer (PWT-PWSI)  course and pass the certification exams you receive a FiberOptic.com Certificate as a Premise Wiring Systems Installer (PWT-PWSI)  and are awarded the Fiberoptic.com Certified Professional Premise Wiring 2 designation. You also earn credit toward the next level of training certification:

Exam Guide

Written exams are designed to test the knowledge gained. Hands-on exams are designed to validate skills 

Upon successful completion of the optional exams the student is awarded the Fiberoptic.com “Certified Professional” Premisw Wiring Systems Level 2 designation and certification.
